Indian Weddings 101

Everyone knows that I love weddings! I truly think that it's watching all the planning and details come together to create a unique event that makes them so exciting. Every wedding is different. With the infusion of culture, traditions, and personal style, every couple creates a day that truly represents themselves.

Culture plays a prominent role in many weddings. I recently had three brides inquire about my services for their large-scale Indian Weddings. I had to be honest and admit that this was not my area of expertise, but that I was more than happy to take on the challenge. :) However, with these recent inquires, I decided it was time to gain more knowledge in this area...and I definitely did!

As a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants, I was invited to attend an eye-opening seminar, "Indian Weddings 101." We have all seen the rich, warm colors and decor that create a dramatic backdrop to traditional Indian Weddings, however, there is so much more that goes into putting together such a magnificient event. With events such as the Pithi, Mehndi, and Garba all leading up to the actual wedding day and ceremony, marriage is truly a celebration. I am excited with all that I have learned about the Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh weddings. I am now filled with a wealth of knowledge and am eager to help create a luxurious wedding masterpiece that is rich with tradition and culture.

Here are a few photos from the event:

A True Pavé-Colored Wedding

I recently met with a bride who desired a turquoise and black color scheme for her wedding. Since it is apparent that I love these colors (hence Pavé's logo colors), imagine my excitement! This color combo isn't quite as traditional as others, but it will make a stunning impact and add a unique flair to the reception decor. These colors can be a little dark together sometimes, so we even played with the idea of adding a hint of color to the flowers to brighten up the area and really make the colors stand out. Take a look at this inspiration board and let me know your thoughts!

A Modern Touch

Do you desire a chic look for your wedding? Well then you'll love one of the current wedding trends...wedding lounge furniture!!!! I am in love with the amazing look that they add to a wedding! Guests appear in awe as they step away from the usual reception tables and dance floor and find themselves in a separate, chic oasis. Whether you want a fun nightclub feel, an intimate space for your guests to relax, or just another exciting décor element added to your wedding, wedding lounge furniture is a beautiful and modern way to enhance your reception. As long as you have an imagination, the possibilities are endless. Here's some exciting lounge area ideas courtesy of the TheKnot.com.

Recently, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Stacey Feldman from AFR Event Furnishings here in Orlando. She allowed me to see all of the amazing pieces that they offer. From sleek and modern furniture perfect for an urban chic event to plush couches that add just a touch of sophistication, they have it all. I love them over there at AFR! Here's a photo sample of some of my favorite pieces. :)

Get Ready, Set,....DASH!

The "Running of the Brides" at Filene's Basement has been popular among many adventurous brides that want discounts on designer gowns. Well now, Solutions Bridal is bringing their own exciting version to Gainesville. On Saturday, June 27th, from 8am to 12pm, Solutions Bridal in Gainesville will open their doors to brides craving designer gowns without the designer pricetag. Dresses will range from $99-$699....but not only are you getting a discount, you're supporting charity! What could be better than buying your dream gown while helping others at the same time? A portion of the proceeds will be generously donataed as they benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This is going to be an absolutely amazing event!!!! I'm sure the line will be long, so plan on getting there early. Good luck as you get ready to "Dash for Your Dress!"

A Treasure in Winter Park

One of the first planning aspects of any wedding is finding the perfect venue for your ceremony. Many brides choose the church that they have grown up in, outdoor garden nuptials, beachside ceremonies, or vows amidst the backdrop of a lavish hotel. However, nestled in the heart of Winter Park is a very quaint and romantic Chapel that is perfect for the couple that desires an intimate and romantic ceremony with an "Old Florida" ambiance.

This past week, I had the pleasure of meeting Suzanne Graffham of the Winter Park Wedding Chapel, as she took me on a tour of this gorgeous location. Although this venue is not for every bride, it truly does provide the intimacy and romantic setting that so many couples desire. With its ideal location just steps away from the Winter Park Rose Garden, Central Park, and Farmer's Market, your photo opportunities are endless. If you're looking for a unique venue to celebrate your love, take a look at the Winter Park Wedding Chapel, a historic treasure in the heart of Winter Park!
